Supply chain professionals are under increasing pressure to manage procurement effectively, to react rapidly to market movements, and at the same time ensure that the contracts they agree offer the best possible value. Mintec Monitoring provides continuous benchmarking of purchasing performance and offers expert analysis and support for strategic buying decisions.

At the centre of Mintec Monitoring is regular market scrutiny, tailored to the specific needs of clients buying a complex mix of commodities. It compares the client’s contract prices with independent market prices. Data provided by Mintec Monitoring can be used to support on-going negotiations and to evaluate and improve purchasing performance.

Each Mintec Monitoring contract is negotiated individually to ensure that it includes all those commodities of specific relevance to the client’s business, or to specific products. An experienced Mintec analyst, with expertise in the relevant industrial sector, will liaise with the client and agree the degree of involvement required to achieve the optimum level of support.   

The commodities monitored will normally include not only major products bought regularly in significant quantities, but also those where deals are less frequent and in which any number of factors may cause major price changes between contracts.

A typical Mintec Monitoring report will feature Datagain graphs specially developed to highlight price movements in the agreed target products.  Datagain’s sophisticated modelling tools are employed to produce graphs that provide comparisons against calculated market prices that can be used to highlight potential savings. 

Cost factors such as feedstocks, shipping, production, energy and delivery can all be incorporated in the models. In addition to the basic data, the Mintec Monitoring service can include an agreed level of commentary and analysis. Mintec Monitoring helps subscribers to react with confidence to rapidly changing market situations.  

Each client’s Mintec Monitoring reports are available on-line, so they are always available for reference, downloading or printing. Clients can send their data to Mintec where it is processed to produce regular reports in the agreed format. Regular update meetings are also an integral feature of the service.

Mintec Training now offers, at minimum cost, a public Introduction to Datagain course developed for all Datagain subscribers who require supplementary training for new staff members or who would simply like to undertake a refresher.
